stressing over sports

Many things in a teenagers life can cause stressors and stress a teen out. The main topic of this blog is sport stressors. School and your social life is probably very important and at some points can cause stress there. Although some teens dont play a sport or are not physically active, there are many that juggle a sport or activity along with their busy life. Sports are very big comitments and can be a HUGE stressor. Along with practices everyday there comes games, improving, and less and less time. Playing a sport requires a lot of time. Most teens go to school, go to practice, probably eat dinner, maybe some other activity or event they have that night, take a shower and STILL fit in HOMEWORK! After that they finally lay their head down before the alarm goes off at 6 am, and before you know it your lossing more and more sleep and getting more and more homework. Another thing teens stress about is getting hurt or injured playing, that will take even more time and more to stress over. Being organized, getting school work done, and getting enough sleep can cause less stress during sports season. Playing a sport you love comes with comitment, time, effort, which than brings stress.

I think a boyfriend is a huge stressor because it just another worried weight on yourself. You have to always worry about what another person in your life thinks about the motions you make in life. The mistakes that you make you always have to think twice about them, why you did it. I understand that you made that decision to be with the person you committed to be with, but it’s like you are of course going to fight and yell and argue. In the end you like each other a lot but it’s still a huge stressor to me and other people in the world to. I think a solution for this is to talk to your friend or your boyfriend and tell them how you feel. Talk to them about how you want things to change about the situation.

College

College is one of the most stressful times of your life. You have to do things on your own, you leave home, and you have to pay for alot of your finances. Not only is there money issuses to deal with you have to deal with getting used to your room mate, new relationships that are starting and ending, and the loads of homework and exams you have to study for. Some students have scholarships and have the presure of maintaining them, and the fear of losing them which adds alot of stress in their lives, not only this but lack of sleep from studying and working can make these stressors alot worse.Getting enough sleep is crutial in coping with these things. College is also where you meet new people and start dating, there is so much stress that comes along with this such as, how much time you spend with that person, or if you are in an arguement, it could effect how you perform in school. Many of these things make college a very stressful time. To make these things in your life easier to deal with as a new coming adult you can, listen to music, or do some type of physical activty to help you burn off some of that stress and anger inside. Everyone has to deal with some type of stress, to some extent in their life, its just a matter of how you deal with it.

What is stress? Well, stress is a feeling that's created when we react to particular events. The teen years tend to bring the most stress. Some studies have even shown that stress in the teen years can later affect your mental and physical health as you get older. These days the things that cause the most stress on teens is school work, peer pressure, need for acceptance, sports, pressure to do well, etc. Sometimes to much stress can lead to depression or even suicide.
Thankfully, there are ways to prevent stress or decrease your stress! Having a strong social network with friends, family, etc. can help to reduce your stress. Some more ways include: not over-scheduling yourself, being realistic with yourself (not trying to be 100% perfect), sleeping well, learning to relax, having a positive attitude towards things, and solving the small problems in life. If those don't solve your problems than try seeing a therapist or counselor.
